Roll up, roll up as we present the 6th year of All the World's Our Playground Festival . A magical festival of street theatre, circus and fun in the heart of Shepton Mallet programmed by local young people.

​​

From incredible aerial circus feats to balloon madness, from moving sheds to samba bands, from creatve craft zones for young people to an old fashioned tea room, from camping inspired contemporary dance to hula hoop hilarity. This years All the World's Our Playground promises something for all the community.

​

Saturday the 19th July is the main day but we have four days of Fringe activities lined up so do take a look below. Full Festival timings and schedules to be announced soon!

Main Festival Day - Saturday 19th July​ - Performers Include​

​​

The GIANT BALLOON SHOW will have the audiences in stitches and in awe simultaneously. Expect feverous balloon sculptures, high energy comic performance and of course the all important giant balloon! Take everything you know about balloons; twist that into a theatrical experience, add an award winning clown and an 80’s soundtrack and you have The Giant Balloon Show!

Get Lost is an exciting dance adventure for all the community. Full of magical contact work, silly slapstick tricks and captivating chaos.Help two happy hikers on their way and dive into a wholesome, high-energy dance adventure, where tents can dance and massive maps swamp the land. Get Lost is about encouraging curiosities, igniting adventures and pushing past stereotypes.

Harvey the Juggler One of Covent Garden's Finest hits Shepton High Street. Harvey Juggling is a young street performer who has quickly become an iconic figure in the juggling world. He started performing at the age of six and has since grown to become a celebrated street performer. He has performed for countless audiences all around the UK, including at the Edinburgh Fringe and Glastonbury festival. Harvey's performances consist of comedy and juggling. He often incorporates dangerous circus stunts like the Rola Bola into his shows, keeping the audience highly entertained and captivated. His natural talent and charisma have earned him praise and recognition in the street performing community.

Gravity Unbound by the amazing Cirque du Silk Under 18 Company share their incredible new aerial performances followed by aerial circus workshops throughout the day for young people. Incorporating aerial arts, dance, gymnastics, props, music, and theatre to captivate the audience. Gravity Undound promises stunning aerial silks, daring drops, and gravity-defying movements, the show will vividly illustrate the force of gravity. Under the guidance of their director and aerial instructors Phoebe and Jemma,

Jamma de Samba Let your samba spirit fly with this workshop and performance by the amazing Jamma de Samba. Bringing the summer vibes and foot-stomping rhythm of Sambas to Shepton Malllet's Market Place

As well as the acts above we will have a programme of workshops and pop up events from local performance groups to keep you entertained!

​

This year we will also have the inagual PlaygroundShowcase where we invite local budding young dancers, comedians, spoken word performers and singers to take centre stage for a performance.

​

All the World’s Our Playground is all about letting children’s creativity and imagination take over the town. Thank you so much to Shepton Mallet Town Council , Without Walls, Take Art, Let's Buy the Amulet, Shepton Artists and local donors for their support in making this years festival happen. We so appreciate it.

This years festival takes place in venues across Shepton Mallet - from the town centre to the Art Bank from The Amulet to Create8. Come and enjoy this magical free festival for all the community.

Tuesday 24th June & Tuesday 8th July - Shed Ache

Schools only performance for Fosse Way School in Midsomer Norton and St Cuthbert's School in Wells

​

shed-ache is a seriously silly dance theatre show that transports little people and their grown ups to a world that sits somewhere between reality and make believe. Shed-ache sees two dancers and a shed on wheels get up to all sorts whilst faced with down pores, lava floors and socks falling out of the sky. Created by aKa Dance Theatre who have been creating turbulently happy works since 2014.

Thursdsday 3rd July -Signals of the Sea

Schools only performance for St Paul's Junior School and Bowlish Infant School

Amazing Paddleboat Theate come to Shepton Mallet with their 4m lighthouse to share their show Sign​als of the Sea. 

 

On an island in the south west sea stands The Lighthouse. 

Its steady beam has rotated for hundreds of years and in that time cast its eye over countless tales of pirates, shipwrecks, sea creatures and more. Now the Lighthouse keeper welcomes you to come and join him and learn the fantastical secrets of the lighthouse. Come weather the storms, bunker down and seek out the true meaning behind the signals of the sea. Can you help the lighthouse keeper discover what is really going on beneath the waves?
