We’re looking for 6 local artists interested in pairing with professional companies to create a piece of street theatre or dance to be performed at our summer festivals. You will work with artists in schools to start developing the piece and then work with children in weekly daytime or after school rehearsals over 3-5 weeks. Schools are in Frome and Shepton Mallet. Enhanced DBS required. Open to theatre makers, dancers, costume designers, circus practitioners and more! June - July 2024

 

Deadline 15th April (but please note Half a String residency may be allocated before the deadline so please apply quickly)

To apply for residencies you will need to be available for:

• The date below to work with your chosen company / mentor (1/2 day session)

• Festival performance dates (for 2hrs). Sat May 18th (Frome) Sat 13th or Sun 14th July (Shepton Mallet)

• 3-4 weekly sessions (totalling 4hrs) in schools or after school (at a time arranged with you).

• End of April - May (Frome), June - July (Shepton Mallet)

• Selected artists require Enhanced DBS, Safeguarding Training and to supply two references
