Once Upon a Dance
From stories around the campfire to hieroglyphics etched in stone, from Alice in Wonderland to Peter Pan, tall tails of enormous beasts to shadowy puppets on the wall, from Shakespeare to fairytales, stories on the high seas to gossip at the bus stop… Once upon a Dance celebrated the magic of stories and literature through dance and spoken word and a bit of magic!
Taking place in the magical grounds of St Pauls Junior School. Once Upon a Dance featured
Bowlish Infant School, St Paul's CofE VC Junior School., St Aldhelms VA Church School, Shepton Mallet's Arts Ambassadors, Croscombe Primary School, Chapel Dance Studio, Field House Care Home, Make the Sunshine Adult Dancers, Oakhill Church School, Stoke St Michael Primary School and Norton Hill Secondary School
Each group had the opportunity to work with a professional dancer to create their choreography and explore dance. For many this was the first time they have ever tried dance and for lots the first time they have performed on stage.
Community acts performed alongside David Reakes (poet and storyteller), Max Enflame (professional fire act) and Rosie Rainbow and Higher Beings Circus (aerial circus act).
