Call Out for Performers

6-7 March 2020

All the World's Our Playground final event takes place in March 2020. This event will be performed by students from 6 schools across Shepton Mallet alongside professional acts they have commissioned.

Students across all schools are responsible for:

  • Devising their own performances

  • Working with a storyteller to create the script and an original story

  • Making all the puppets and props for the show

  • Commissioning professional companies and artists to work alongside them

Students from each school will be involved in commissioning companies - voting on their favorites and then a panel of students with representatives from each school will programme the final event.

The final event takes place on Friday 6th March 2020 from 5-9pm. It will involve a magical performance at St Paul’s Junior School site - on the stage, in the school and outside in the play areas and forest. We are looking for walkabout performances, immersive experiences and puppets to interact with audiences for this.

Professional companies representing the following key themes selected by students are invited to apply:

  • Under the sea / sea themed acts

  • A magical circus

  • Stories that come to life

  • A planet that hasn't been looked after / a climate breakdown

  • Home - the magic of home

We are looking for both individual puppeteers and walkabout theatre acts as well as companies that could do some walkabout theatre on Friday evening and a full children's show on the Saturday daytime. All acts must be family friendly and we are especially interested in puppetry acts, shadow puppetry and illuminated performances.
