We are looking for a range of artists, prop and theatre-makers, shadow artists and local crafts people to work in local schools and help create props and installations for a magical theatre show run by six schools in Shepton Mallet.
We are also looking for artists to lead a range of community workshops and installations for Window Wanderland taking place in Shepton Mallet March 6th – 8th 2020 run by The Art Bank, Make the Sunshine CiC and The Rubbish Art Project.

Creative Commissions in Schools
Workshops will take place January and February 2020 in school time but can be arranged on suitable days to fit with the partner school and artist
All workshops will be with primary aged students 4-11 (Infant schools 4-7, Middle schools 7-11)
Materials can be sourced in advance and support provided with volunteers where necessary. Different elements can also be teacher-led and developed depending on the commission and elements can be prepared in advance of workshops if required.
We are especially keen to work with local artists.

COMMISSION #1: TESCO: WINDOW WANDERLAND
THE BRIEF: We are looking for an artist to create a commission promoting Tesco’s community schemes: knit and chat, Snowdrop festival, providing sugar to support bees locally, happy landings animal charity, book donations scheme, their work with Field House Care Home and bags for life support to the community.
WHAT IT INVOLVES: Creating a design that fills one of Tesco’s window panes at the front of the store that will light up for Window Wanderland 2020
Initial meeting with Tesco to present outline design
Support installing window (Tesco to provide staff to facilitate with this)
Writing one blog post about the window and techniques to create one

THE BRIEF: We are looking for an artist to work with the community to create a commission for Shepton Mallet Library
WHAT IT INVOLVES: Designing the window and preparing materials for workshops. Leading 1 x 4hr community workshops in half term – Monday 17th February, 11am – 1pm & 2 – 4pm

THE BRIEF: Creating small shadow boxes / houses out of recycled materials to appear like a lit-up townscape of Shepton Mallet
WHAT IT INVOLVES: 2 x 4hr workshops in a school in Shepton Mallet spread over 2 days (with support).
