On Friday we welcomed The Clockwork Moth to Shepton Mallet schools. An incredible company based on Dartmoor. They are brought their magical show Hansel and Gretel which was originally created for The National Trust.
Told through the ancient art of shadow puppetry this show had young people gripped with its beautiful visuals, live music and incredible storytelling.
Look up their website they are doing so many amazing, creative things! Looking forward to sharing more shadow puppetry with students - it’s been so magnetic to see them understand how they can create their own stories and puppets using just paper and light.
After the show the students were treated to a Q&A and chance to discuss with the makers how everything worked. It takes Clockwork Moth over a week to complete some of the beautiful cut screens - they are such a work of art and this show really demonstrated the craft that goes into this kind of production.
